Almost too busy…

Blackberries

…to remember that I miss Daniel. But, not quite. He’s consistently right at the front of my mind. I never have to think about him… I just always am.

Having a deployed spouse puts you in this limbo-ish kind of state. I am here, in the flesh, but my heart and my mind are wherever Daniel is.

Well, these last few days have flown by and I have been busier than ever. That is a victory in and of itself. I didn’t actually think I could get busier! But I have.

Monday was hanging out with Molly (spending the day with her while she spent birthday money, eating hawaiian pizza, being attacked by bees, laughing our faces off, you know… hum drum) and then picking loads of blackberries.

Tuesday was all about the blueberries. And getting sunburned.

Blueberry picking

On my way home I decided to drive the roads that would take me past my childhood home. Sigh.

My childhood home

All I wanted to do was run up the stairs and flop myself down on my bed. I was overwhelmed with memories. I stared at this photo for the longest time tonight… it was like I had a slideshow running through my mind. I miss it.

Today my mom and I processed 15 dozen ears of corn; ten for her and five for me. Phew.

I got about thirty two bags of super sweet, amazing corn to freeze. It was a lot of work but I am so thankful to be able to do it. I will be especially so come February!

In the blue bowl this week, we have blackberries paired with some very bright and cheerful sunflowers.

And this little boy, just in case you were wondering, has all of his teeth still in his head!

All his teeth

I was at such a loss. I didn’t know what to do about his dead tooth. I was praying, Daniel was praying and then I noticed that his abscess was starting to recede. I kept careful watch and to my surprise, it has completely disappeared! I am keeping an eye on him but thank God! All I want is for all of his teeth to stay in his head until they naturally fall out. I can totally deal with him having a grey tooth.

I think I have about caught you up! Any questions?

Oh, by the way, you’re awesome. And you look great today!

Okay, really all caught up now.

I so love your blue bowl and flowers. I have to find those things for our home. where do you get your flowers?

My heart aches when I read how you’re feeling about your hubby. It brings back some pretty raw emotions from when mine was gone. Sometimes my days would get so busy and fly by I couldn’t even recall what I did for a whole week.

LOVE the photo of your girls in matching dresses.

your “missing daniel” posts bring back so many memories & emotions for me that i buried during our years of deployments…but it’s good, i need to revisit them. part of the healing, ya know.

Those blackberries look delish!! Tyler had the same problem with one of her front teeth. She fell and hit her tooth. I took her to the dentist and they said it was bruised and just keep an eye on it. It eventually turned back to white! WHEW!!

I am so happy you got a card reader. I was really missing your pictures! And yes, my heart is always wherever David may be deployed to. I feel a huge void. Sometimes I even feel his hand brush against my cheek. It is so odd, but comforting.

Could you tell me if there is anything special I would need to do to freeze the corn, any special way of doing it? Also do you know if you can freeze green beans? Basically let me know if there is anything I cannot freeze there is a HUGE produce farm near our house that is very, very cheap and I would love to take advantage of it and freeze a little bit of stuff I would love to can but I don’t have a pressure cooker if you know how to do it without one could you share that with me as well. mrsstethoscope@live.com

Oooh, honey sticks! I just have to say that his tooth may turn back white. We had one of ours do that. I’m glad the recess is gone. Isn’t it amazing how their little bodies can heal?

    no you’re awesome!

I know what you mean about limbo. That’s how I feel most of the year, always wishing he would get home from a trip, be it a week or a couple months and then realizing that I’m wishing the time away. Its a catch 22.

They are so expensive here in Italy. Like $3.00 for a very very small package.

Blackberries are my favorite :) I think I’m going to pull some out of our freezer and make some jam!!
I’d love to hear how you freeze your corn as well – we creamed it and then froze it, but we don’t have a pressure cooker either. Next I’m trying to freeze pumpkin from our garden!!

Thanks for such a Lovely day. The Pizza and Fellowship was awesome. I needed a good dose of Andrea ;)
I still can’t believe that is your old house. I find it crazy that that is the house I would drool over as Kevin and I would drive by to visit his Dad. ;) Such a beautiful home. I don’t blame you for oogling over the picture @ all. What memories you must have of such a grand place with a big yard & garden. I wasn’t able to drive by my old house when we went to New England, I told Kevin to take a different route, so we could avoid it. It made me sad.

Besides wanting to eat corn and blackberries now because those looked SO SO SO good. I have to ask how do you get the blurry backgrounds. I have tried and am getting frustrated or I am just really dumb. I tried to follow the directions but don’t seem to get it. I have a Canon Rebel and I have two different lenses. Do you have to use a different lens or have it set to a certain setting…PLEASE help before I loose my mind trying to figure it out! Love Love Love your blog and awesome pics.
